mission statement
Our aim is to create a high quality service where service users can benefit from the vast and growing body of research in the field of learning disabilities.
This is achieved by providing continuous training for staff and maintaining a high staff support ratio in order to create an environment where they have the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice.
WHO WE ARE ?
Creative Advances provides services for adults and young people with a Learning Disability or associated conditions in the Portsmouth area.
We provide day services focussed on opportunities for skills development, and provide activities centred around health and wellbeing.
We also provide outreach services for those who prefer not to attend a day centre.
We can accommodate a range of needs such as physical disabilities, learning disabilities conditions, behaviours of concern, communication needs and sensory needs.
At Creative Advances, we believe in person centred approaches. The support we provide, and time spent within the centres varies significantly with the support needs of the individual. We offer bespoke timetables that are suited to the person as well as offering a wide range of meaningful activities and group-based sessions for all to engage with. Creative Advances work hard to create a service user led environment, where individuals can choose what they would like to take part in and what skills they would like to develop. We pride ourselves on being innovative, always keen to explore new ideas, develop new projects and activities to promote independence, choice, and equal opportunities.
Creative Advances develop relationships with schools and colleges to ensure that young people transition from education to day services with ease. Schools and colleges have the opportunity to visit the centre and experience our service, and the opportunity to develop relationships with staff and peers at our centres.
We have developed many community connections that focus on skills and project development within the heart of our community. This gives our service users the opportunity to increase social circles and learn new skills in a variety of environments. From volunteering at shops and cafés, to horse and animal care at Fort Widley, there are many opportunities to develop skills and take part in meaningful activities.
